Rabbi Knapp Schechter is a Seattle native and moved to the Philadelphia area to pursue rabbinical studies at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC). Before her rabbinical studies, Rabbi Knapp Schechter received a BA from Seattle University and an MA from the University of London- SOAS, both degrees in international studies and diplomacy. While working towards her earlier degrees, she was an active leader and teacher in Seattle and London for ten years and while at RRC she served as an education director, chaplain, and student rabbi up and down the East Coast.

During her studies in Israel, at the Conservative Yeshiva, she discovered her passion for the Zohar and Kabbalah. Rabbi Knapp Schechter has focused her work on finding inspiration within Jewish tradition to craft creative and relevant rituals for people’s lives.

She bases her rabbinate on cultivating and deepening relationships by facilitating study of Torah, meaningful Jewish practice, and empathetic pastoral care. Rabbi Knapp Schechter is committed to the empowerment of lay leadership and accompanying others in their growth along their Jewish journeys. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, daughter, and twin sons.
