I grew up in a Conservative home where we kept kosher and had Shabbat and holiday dinners with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, however I did not attend religious school. Imagine that I actually begged my parents to let me go, and I loved growing up at Ner Zedek in Northeast Philadelphia, attending Gratz College for my teaching certificate, and getting my BA and MA in Religion with a minor in Jewish studies. My family, my son Joshua and my daughter-in-law Brittney (just married March 17), and my son Max and my future daughter-in-law Nicole (wedding sometime in Fall 2025) all live nearby and will join me at BTBJ for Shabbat, holidays and events, as their schedules allow. My family also includes cats and dogs, and I probably have pictures on my phone of my kids, but I definitely have many pictures of my pets.
