Our Menorah Wall Sconce
Artist David Klass envisioned and built our two new signature menorot that grace the sides of our Aron Kodesh, our holy Ark. The design is a variation of his Shin design menorah. The letter “shin” stands for the acronym “Shomer Delatot Yisrael – Guardian of the Doors of the Community of Israel”. Fashioned out of beaten and melted brass over copper, the formidable menorot take on a life of their own as the curvaceous nature of their design suggests a flow of poetry in motion as this ancient symbol takes on modern significance. The menorot connect us to both ancient and modern Israel and to the spirituality of the Hebrew language. They are both protective and inspiring. Our new menorot are a welcome addition to the BTBJ bima and sanctuary!
